Recently, a Reddit user named NextHandheld claimed to have insider information about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. They promised to share proof of their access to the console on Christmas Day. As the holiday passed, NextHandheld delivered a series of images that seem to showcase Nintendo’s unannounced console, set to launch in 2025.
While the authenticity of these images remains unverified, they align with previous leaks, adding some credibility to the claims. One of the first images shared shows what appears to be the Nintendo Switch 2 being held up, revealing its design.
If this is indeed a final retail unit, it features the console’s side with the Joy-Con controllers detached and the kickstand extended. Earlier rumors indicated that the controllers would attach magnetically, which explains the different design compared to the original Switch.
Amid discussions about the possibility of the images being altered or AI-generated, a moderator who received the proof from NextHandheld shared cropped, close-up shots of the dock on Reddit. One of these images includes a blurry view of the Nintendo Switch 2 logo.
NextHandheld also provided a clearer view of the Nintendo Switch 2 dock later on social media. The dock resembles the one from the Switch OLED model but features more rounded edges. It is reported to include two USB-A ports on the side, along with USB-C, HDMI, and Ethernet ports inside.

Regardless of the legitimacy of these leaks, fans won’t have to wait long for confirmation. Nintendo has announced that it will reveal its next console before the end of March 2025. Various sources suggest that the launch event could occur in the coming weeks.
